
“Launch of Algerian Research Projects Approved Under the Initiative of Arab Research and Innovation Co-Funded Alliances“

The launching ceremony of the Algerian research projects approved under the Initiative of Arab Research and Innovation Co-Funded Alliances took place in Algiers, under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in collaboration with the Federation of Arab Councils for Scientific Research.
✅ This scientific event aims to highlight the achievements of scientific research in Algeria, to strengthen joint Arab cooperation in the fields of science, technology and innovation, while enhancing networking. It brings together a panel of researchers, experts and decision-makers from various Arab countries with the aim of creating an effective scientific environment based on partnership and complementarity to address common development challenges.
✅ The opening of the ceremony was marked by welcoming speeches delivered by Professor Mohamed BOUHICHA, Director-General of Scientific Research and Technological Development (representing the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research), and His Excellency Professor Abdelmadjid BENAMARA, Secretary-General of the Federation of Arab Councils for Scientific Research. The speakers stressed the importance of the initiative in promoting inter-Arab research and unifying efforts to address development challenges.
✅ During the opening, a presentation was given illustrating the objectives and achievements of the initiative of Arab Research and Innovation Co-Funded Alliances highlighting the progress made in networking scientific establishments in the Arab world.
✅ The work of the first scientific session was completed, during which the reality of Arab scientific research as well as its future prospects were examined. There were interventions from Arab experts, notably:
🔘 Professor Youcef TOURMAN, President of the Arab States Research and Education Network, who addressed the theme of "Open Science".
🔘 Professor Nora FATEES, Founder of the Arab Association for Cybersecurity, who highlighted the importance of Arab partnerships in the field of cybersecurity.
🔘 Professor Nahed MOHAMED TAREK gave a presentation on the indicators of scientific research in the Arab world and the importance of alliances as a strategic scientific framework to strengthen joint production of knowledge.
✅ The second session was devoted to the presentation of the four Algerian projects approved under the initiative. The principal researchers gave detailed presentations on the objectives and components of their projects, covering various strategic areas : agriculture, emerging technologies, energy and health, which reflects the diversity and capacity of national scientific research. The projects include :
⚪ A project on climate-smart livestock farming in Arab countries (agri-food field), led by researchers from the University of Guelma.
⚪ A project on secure and fast artificial intelligence systems for edge devices (emerging technologies), led by researchers from the National Higher School of Computer Science.
⚪ In the field of energy and water, researchers from the Renewable Energy Development Centre are involved in a project on the manufacture and application of bioplastics for sustainable development and environmental protection.
⚪ In the field of health and medicines, Algeria is participating in a project on the introduction of supercritical fluid technologies in national economic sectors, pharmaceutical industries and cosmetics, with researchers from the University of Constantine 3.
✅ In addition to the fact that these projects represent living models of fruitful Arab scientific cooperation, and a promising step for supporting innovation and technology domiciliation in our Arab region, these projects illustrate the leadership of Algerian establishments of higher education and scientific research and the scientific skills they have to excel at the Arab and international level. They also embody the ministry’s commitment to support sustainable development processes at national and Arab levels through research, development and innovation.
✅ The day ended with a ceremony of awards to expert teachers who ensured the evaluation of submitted projects and their role in ensuring the quality of projects and their suitability to scientific standards and strategic priorities of the initiative.
✅ This event reflects Algeria’s steadfast commitment to support the dynamics of scientific research at the Arab level, while highlighting national competencies and their ability to excel within Arab scientific cooperation networks.
