“Signature of a Framework Agreement between the Directorate-General for Scientific Research and Technological Development and Sonatrach “

A framework agreement for scientific and technological cooperation and partnership was signed today between the Directorate-General for Scientific Research and Technological Development, represented by Professor Mohamed BOUHICHA, Director-General for  Scientific Research and Technological Development and the National Company for the Transport and Marketing of Hydrocarbons, Sonatrach, represented by Mr Mohamed BENAMARA, Director of Research&Development. The signature took place in the presence of senior officials from both sides, highlighting the importance of this partnership.

This agreement aims  to enhance collaboration between scientific research establishments and socio-economic partners, particularly in the energy sector which is considered as one of the most important economic sectors in Algeria. Through this partnership, both parties aim to bolster scientific research and technological development in order to strengthen the national economy and achieve sustainable development.

This agreement focuses on encouraging innovation and the development of new technologies to improve the efficiency of Sonatrach's operations and increase its competitiveness. Moreover, this partnership offers Algerian researchers the opportunity to collaborate with their counterparts at Sonatrach to set up networks and thematic research projects, which will contribute to the development of innovative solutions in various fields such as: exploration, oil and gas extraction, processing of petroleum products and environmental protection.

This agreement aligns with Algeria’s broader efforts to foster intersectoral cooperation and activate the role of scientific research in supporting and developing national industries. It also aims to create new jobs and provide an environment conducive to scientific research, thereby enhancing the country’s capacity to efficiently and effectively exploit its natural resources.

 

On the other hand, Sonatrach seeks through this agreement to establish a fruitful collaboration with higher education and scientific research establishments in order to apply the outcomes of research and innovation to the development of high value-added technological products serving the national economy. In addition, this agreement aims to support and develop entrepreneurship by supporting innovative project leaders, particularly students and researchers in the creation of start-ups and micro-enterprises.
